Casana (Solanum cajunumense) - eine der besten Solanum überhauptWir haben noch einmal ganz frische Samen bekommen.Was macht diese Frucht eigentlich so interessant? Das sind tatsächlich mehrere Faktoren. Erstmal ist sie resistent gegen Nematoden und Wurzelfäule was sie aus genetischer Sicht interessant für Kreuzungsversuche macht.Zweitens ist diese Frucht sehr lecker. Der Geschmack wird beschrieben wie eine Mischung aus Pfirsich, Passionsfrucht, Thompson Traube und Tomate. Sehr duftendes, süßes und saftiges Fruchtfleisch.Und drittens wird diese Pflanze nur ca. 2 bis 3m groß, wächst sehr schnell, trägt ab dem 2. Jahr (stirbt aber nach ca. 8 Jahren langsam) und ist ein Massenträger an Früchten.Die Casana benötigt nur flache Töpfe da sie ein Flachwurzler ist. Das macht sie aber auch anfällig gegen Wind und sie sollte daher windgeschützt stehen. Vollschatten mag sie nicht - lieber sonnig und zum späten Nachmittag etwas Schatten.Man hat festgestellt, dass sie sich in vielen Erden wohl fühlt aber gute Drainage bevorzugt. Kalte Tage sind kein Problem allerdings gibt es ab ungefähr -1 Grad Schäden.In Neuseeland hat man vor einiger Zeit das riesige Potential erkannt und will diese Frucht kommerziell vermarkten (ähnlich der Kiwi).Beim Anbau wird nach 1 Meter die Spitze gekappt und danach alle Seitentriebe nach ca. 0,6m. Dadurch erhält man eine schöne Krone und eine bessere Blütenbildung.Die Keimung kann mehrere Wochen dauern. Diesen Namen hat man den Früchten in Neuseeland gegeben als man versuchte diese Solanum kommerziell anzubauen.Diese Pflanze ist ein Flachwurzler und benötigt eher breitere Töpfe. Diese Solanum ist sehr resistent gegen Krankheiten und hält kurzfristig Temperaturen bis -3 Grad aus.Sie fühlt sich in einem Temperaturbereich zwischen 15 und 25 Grad am wohlsten.Man konnte diese Solanum gut mit Pollen der Cold hardy Tamarillo (Solanum corymbiflorum) kreuzbestäuben um sie noch kältehärter zu züchten.Es werden auch zwei Pflanzen dieser Solanum empfohlen um schneller Früchte zu bekommen.Diese Solanum wird in der Roten Liste gefährdeter Arten der IUCN als „nahezu gefährdet“ eingestuft und ist nicht mehr häufig in Brasilien zu finden.Überwintern bitte bei mindestens 5 Grad.
