Solanum corymbiflora, also known as the "Cold Hardy Tamarillo" or "hardy tree tomato," is a small, edible fruit-bearing plant in the nightshade family native to the Andes of South America.
It is a more cold-hardy variety of the tamarillo (Solanum betaceum) and can grow as a small tree or large shrub.
Its ripe fruits are yellow, firm, and have a unique tomato-like flavor with a tart, bright note reminiscent of mango when fully ripe.
Botanical name:
Solanum corymbiflora, also synonymous with Cyphomandra corymbiflora.
Growth habit:
A small tree or large shrub that can grow up to 15 feet tall.
Leaves:
Dark green with pronounced venation and drooping flowers on long stems.
Fruits:
Edible, yellow fruits, 5-7cm long, which differ from the common tamarillo.
Origin and Distribution:
The plant is native to the Andes of South America, where it grows in countries such as Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina, and Bolivia.
Cultivation:
The plant is significantly more cold-resistant than the common tamarillo and can tolerate short-term temperatures down to -15°F (approx. -9°C).
However, we recommend overwintering it at a minimum of 0°C.
It prefers a partially shaded to sunny location.
The soil should be moist, organic, and free of fertile soil.
Two plants are beneficial for cross-pollination.



Solanum corymbiflora, auch bekannt als „Cold Hardy Tamarillo“ oder «winterharte Baumtomate», ist eine aus den Anden Südamerikas stammende, kleine, essbare Frucht tragende Pflanze aus der Familie der Nachtschattengewächse. 
Sie ist eine kälteresistentere Variante der Tamarillo (Solanum betaceum) und kann als kleiner Baum oder großer Strauch wachsen.
Ihre reifen Früchte sind gelb, fest und haben einen einzigartigen Tomaten-ähnlichen Geschmack mit einer säuerlich-hellen Note der bei Vollreife an Mango erinnert.

Herkunft und Verbreitung:
Die Pflanze ist in den Anden Südamerikas heimisch, wo sie in Ländern wie Ecuador, Kolumbien, Peru, Chile, Argentinien und Bolivien wächst.
Anbau:
Die Pflanze ist deutlich kältebeständiger als die gewöhnliche Tamarillo und verträgt kurzfristig Temperaturen bis zu -15 °F (ca. -9 °C).

Sie bevorzugt einen halbschattigen bis sonnigen Standort. 
Der Boden sollte feucht, organisch und tорfrei sein. 
Zum Fruchten sind zwei Pflanzen für die Kreuzbestäubung von Vorteil.
