The name "Pirangi" originates from the Tupi language and means "red color," perfectly describing the vibrant appearance of its ripe fruits.
This discovery is considered spectacular because Myrciaria fruits typically range from 1 to 2 cm, but the Pirangi reaches an impressive 3 to 4cm in diameter.
With this extraordinary size, it surpasses almost all known species of its genus, even overshadowing the large-fruited Myrciaria sp. Pastora.
The pulp offers an exquisite flavor profile reminiscent of a harmonious blend of Myrciaria glomerata, classic Jaboticaba, and sweet peach.
