Auch im Norden Argentiniens gibt es ein paar bis dato nicht wissenschaftlich benannte Jaboticabas.Dort gibt es ca. 10 verschiedene Arten.Man hat sich jedoch in Argentinien nie wirklich die Zeit genommen und diese bestimmt, so dass diese noch heute mit synonymen Namen existieren.Die seltenste dieser argentinischen Jaboticabas dürfte diese Giant Piray sein.Von diesem Baum existiert bisher nur ein gefundener alter Baum in freier Natur, in der Piray River Region in der nördlichsten Provinz Misiones.Dieser Baum gehört einem alten Mann, der außerhalb der Stadt Eldorado wohnt und nur selten mit Menschen Kontakt hat.Ein alter Kauz - wie wir hier sagen. Das Besondere an dieser Jaboticaba sind seine erstaunlich großen Früchte (daher der Zusatzname Giant).Sie haben ein sehr saftiges Fruchtfleisch und einen köstlichen Geschmack. And that's where this Jaboticaba was discovered. The fruits are dark blue in color and have velvety skin. The taste was described as excellent, very juicy and sweet. So much flavor in one small fruit.And then you read from other collectors that the Myrciaria guaquiea, Myrciaria strigipes or even the Myrciaria caerulescens taste a lot better.What? How is that supposed to work? No idea but it's true. Anyone who has already eaten really ripe Jaboticaba will be smacking their lips.And now imagine that you could eat two of these delicious fruits at once. A Jabo and a Guaquiea.Is that even possible? Of course it is. Very easy with a single fruit of this Myrciaria sp Jaboticaba.That's a 10 out of 10 point fruit. The tip of the iceberg right at the top. Im Frühjahr hatten wir ein paar frische Samen dieser Myrciaria bekommen. Jetzt sind sie gekeimt und wir haben gestaunt wie schnell die wachsen.Die Blätter erinnern tatsächlich an eine Jaboticaba und wir haben das Gefühl, dass sie schneller wächst und weniger anspruchsvoll ist.Bitte diese Pflanze bei mindestens 10 Grad überwintern.

Es gibt allerdings einige Unterschiede, so dass man von einer eigenen, bisher unbekannten Jaboticaba ausgehen muss.Die Früchte sind dunkelschwarz mit glänzender Schale und weißen, süßen und saftige Fruchtfleisch.Bitte tiefe Töpfe verwenden und bei mindestens 10 Grad überwintern.

This is a clear indication of good taste. It is a fairly easy species to grow. The leaves are a beautiful dark green and slightly leathery. This tree comes from Brazil and is found there from Minas Gerais to Rio Grande do Sul. He grows to around 5m tall. Of course, it can be trimmed and kept smaller without any problems. The fruits are tasty and are reminiscent of a mix of berries with a very exotic note. They are approximately 2.5cm in diameter. This plant is self-fertile and produces fruit on its own. Adult specimens suffer frost damage from -5 degrees. This means that although this plant can tolerate short-term frost, it is better to overwinter at at least 10 degrees. A sunny to semi-shady place is suitable as a location. Grumixama kommt aus der Tupi Sprache und bedeutet „Frucht die zum Essen zum Munde führt“. Das ist ein deutlicher Hinweis auf einen guten Geschmack. Es ist eine ziemlich einfach zu ziehende Art. Die Blätter haben ein schönes dunkelgrün und sind leicht ledrig. Dieser Baum stammt aus Brasilien und kommt dort von Minas Gerais bis Rio Grande do Sul vor. Er wird ca. 5m groß. Selbstverständlich kann er ohne Probleme beschnitten und kleiner gehalten werden. Die Früchte sind schmackhaft und erinnern an einen Beerenmix mit sehr exotischer Note. Sie sind ca 2,5cm im Durchmesser. Diese Pflanze ist selbstfertil und fruchtet allein. Ausgewachsene Exemplare erleiden Frostschäden ab -5 Grad. Das bedeutet, dass diese Pflanze zwar kurzfristig Frost verträgt aber dennoch besser bei mindestens 10 Grad überwintert werden sollte. Als Standort eignet sich ein sonniger bis halbschattiger Platz.
