Eugenia umbelliflora is another very rare Eugenia from Brazil.
Marco de Lucerda (the author of the book Frutas no Brasil) also names them Jabuticaba-da-praia-doce which means “sweet jaboticaba from the beach”.
He further writes:
"Very productive tree, full of fruits rich in anthocyanins, with a very sweet taste and a very slight astringency.
During the ripening process they are initially yellow, then red and finally black, with an intense purple flesh."
I would mix a little sand with this plant because it grows near the beach.
In our case, this Eugenia grows very quickly and easily in the pot.
Later it should be able to withstand slight sub-zero temperatures for a short period of time.
In Brazil, this beautiful Eugenia fruits after just 3 - 4 years and is well suited for pot cultivation.

Desweiteren schreibt er:
"Sehr produktiver Baum, voller Früchte, die reich an Anthocyanen sind, mit einem sehr süßen Geschmack und einer sehr leichten Adstringenz.
Während des Reifeprozesses sind sie zunächst gelb, dann rot und schließlich schwarz, mit einem intensiv violetten Fruchtfleisch."
Ich würde dieser Pflanze etwas Sand unter die Erde mischen da sie in Strandnähe wächst.
Bei uns wächst diese Eugenia sehr schnell und einfach im Topf.
Später einmal soll sie kurzfristig leichte Minusgrade überstehen.
In Brasilien fruchtet diese schöne Eugenia bereits nach 3 - 4 Jahren und ist gut für Topfkultur geeignet.
