Eugenia pruniformis - one of the top 3 Eugenia
We know that there are many Eugenia with very good taste. There are lists and surveys, as well as experience reports.
I would like to directly reproduce a description from the author of the book Frutas no Brasil, Marco de Lacerda, here:
"Very juicy and with a perfect sweet-acid balance, without any astringency or unpleasant aftertaste, it has a very high percentage of anthocyanins and for these reasons is considered one of the tastiest Eugenia in the world."
This Eugenia comes from Brazil and is only rarely found there. It is endemic to the states of Rio de Janeiro and Espirito Santo.
This tree only grows to around 2 to 3 meters tall and bears fruit from just 1m. The flesh is pink and the skin of the fruit is very thin and can be eaten.
Botanically it belongs to the Racemosae section of Eugenia (like E. candolleana and E. monosperma).
This Eugenia can be cultivated very well in pots and adapts to different soil types.
Please overwinter this Eugenia at at least 10 degrees (even if it can tolerate short-term frost).

Wir wissen, dass es viele Eugenia mit einem sehr guten Geschmack gibt. Es gibt da Listen und Umfragen, sowie Erfahrungsberichte.
Ich möchte direkt eine Beschreibung von dem Autor des Buches Frutas no Brasil, Marco de Lacerda, hier wiedergeben:
"Sehr saftig und mit einem perfekten Süße-Säure-Gleichgewicht, ohne jegliche Adstringenz oder unangenehmen Nachgeschmack, hat es einen sehr hohen Anteil an Anthocyanen und gilt aus diesen Gründen als eine der schmackhaftesten Eugenia der Welt."
Diese Eugenia stammt aus Brasilien und ist dort nur noch ganz selten zu finden. Sie ist dort endemisch in den Bundesstaaten Rio de Janeiro und Espirito Santo.
Dieser Baum wird nur ca. 2 bis 3 Meter groß und trägt bereits ab 1m Früchte. Das Fruchtfleisch ist rosa und die Schale der Frucht ist sehr dünn und kann mitgegessen werden.
Botanisch gesehen gehört sie zur Racemosae Sektion der Eugenien (wie E. candolleana und E. monosperma).
Diese Eugenia kann sehr gut in Töpfen kultiviert werden und passt sich an verschiedene Erdtypen an.
Bitte diese Eugenia bei mindestens 10 Grad überwintern (auch wenn sie kurzfristig Frost verträgt).
