This ultra-rare fruiting plant is a perennial, woody vine without tendrils and with a right-twisting stem that can reach heights of up to 10 meters.
In Brazil, this plant produces its first fruit after just one to two years.
The seedlings prefer a shady location in the first year, and the soil should have a pH of 5.5 to 6.2.
The fruits can be eaten with the skin and pulp.
The pulp and peel have a very pleasant taste reminiscent of grape juice.
It is a high-quality wild fruit for fresh consumption with great commercial potential, as the fruits remain ripe on the plant for about two months and can be stored in a protected location for about 40 days after harvest.
The fruits are also excellent for making delicious juices, jellies, and ice cream.
The plant is dioecious and requires male and female plants to produce fruit.
We therefore recommend growing multiple plants.
Please overwinter this plant at a minimum temperature of 10 degrees Celsius, even if it can tolerate short-term colder temperatures.
