Artocarpus odoratissimus, globally celebrated as Marang, Tarap, or Johey Oak, is a magnificent tropical fruit species belonging to the Mulberry family (Moraceae).
Native to the humid lowland rainforests of Southeast Asia—particularly Borneo, the Philippines, and Malaysia—Marang is widely regarded by fruit connoisseurs as one of the most delicious members of its genus.
Botanically, the tree features bold, deeply lobed to entire, lustrous green leaves that lend an impressive, lush jungle aesthetic to any collection.
Its large, rounded to ovoid fruits are covered in a soft, pliable, spiky rind that shifts from green to a golden yellowish-brown at full maturity, emitting a rich, sweet fragrance.
Upon opening, the fruit reveals a treasure trove of snow-white, highly succulent pulp segments that easily separate from the central core.

Die Artocarpus odoratissimus, weltweit bekannt als Marang, Tarap oder Johey Oak, ist eine außergewöhnliche, hochgeschätzte Exoten-Rarität aus der Familie der Maulbeergewächse (Moraceae).
Beheimatet in den feucht-warmen Tropenwäldern Südostasiens – insbesondere auf Borneo, den Philippinen und in Malaysia –, gilt der Marang unter Kennern als einer der wohlschmeckendsten und feinsten Vertreter der gesamten Gattung.
Botanisch zeichnet sich der Baum durch sein imposantes, tief gelapptes bis ganzrandiges, dunkelgrünes Laubbild aus, das der Pflanze eine faszinierende, tropische Ausstrahlung verleiht.
Die großen, kugeligen bis eiförmigen Früchte besitzen eine weiche, mit dichten, biegsamen Auswüchsen besetzte Schale, die sich bei vollkommenem Reifegrad von Grün zu einem warmen Gelbbraun verfärbt und einen intensiv-fruchtigen Duft verströmt.
