Die ursprüngliche Heimat dieser absoluten Rarität liegt in den tropischen und subtropischen Regionen Südamerikas, wo sie insbesondere in den Cerrado-Gebieten und Wäldern Brasiliens vorkommt.
In Kultur wächst sie als kompakter, gut verzweigter Strauch oder kleiner Baum heran und besticht durch ihre eleganten, länglichen, tiefgrünen Blätter mit ledriger Textur.
