Plinia sp. Flavioides is a newly discovered species of Plinia that has not yet been scientifically described.
It was found in the forests of the Atlantic Forest (Mata Atlântica) in the Brazilian state of Bahia.
A striking characteristic of this species is its distinctive foliage—elliptical leaves that are remarkably broad compared to those of ordinary *Plinia* species, featuring a characteristic light green to slightly yellowish coloration.
The rounded berries mature from deep green to crimson red and ultimately darken to a glossy, deep violet-black.
Inside, the fruits reveal translucent, juicy pulp wrapped around notably large seeds, all protected by a firm outer rind.
In terms of flavor, it easily rivals the finest Jaboticabas: the sweet, refreshing pulp delivers a rich, grape-like tropical flavor profile typical of the absolute best Plinia species.
In cultivation, Plinia sp. Flavioides forms an elegant plant, making it an outstanding candidate for container growing on patios or in conservatories.
For optimal growth, it prefers a sunny to semi-shaded location along with a slightly acidic, nutrient-rich substrate kept consistently moist.
As a tropical to subtropical forest species, it is sensitive to frost and should be overwintered in a bright, warm location at a minimum temperature of 10 to 12 °C (50 to 54 °F).

Die Plinia sp. Flavioides ist eine neu entdeckte, wissenschaftlich noch unbeschriebene Plinia.
Gefunden wurde sie in den Wäldern des Mata Atlântica im brasilianischen Bundesstaat Bahia.
Ein auffälliges Charaktermerkmal dieser Art sind ihre besonderen, im Vergleich zu gewöhnlichen Plinia-Arten erstaunlich breiten, elliptischen Blätter mit ihrer charakteristischen, hellgrünen bis leicht gelblichen Färbung.
Die rundlichen Früchte färben sich bei voller Reife von dunkelgrün über ein schönes Karmesinrot bis hin zu einem tiefen Schwarz-Violett.
Im Inneren offenbaren die Beeren ein saftiges, geleeartiges Fruchtfleisch mit bemerkenswert großen Samen, die von der dicken, schützenden Fruchtschale umgeben sind.
Geschmacklich steht sie den besten Jaboticabas in nichts nach: Das Fruchtfleisch begeistert mit einer intensiv süßen, erfrischenden Note und dem typisch vollmundigen, traubig-tropischen Aromaprofil bester Plinias.
In Kultur wächst Plinia sp. Flavioides zu einer eleganten Pflanze heran und eignet sich hervorragend als exklusive Solitär-Kübelpflanze für die Terrasse oder den Wintergarten.
Für ein optimales Gedeihen bevorzugt die Pflanze einen sonnigen bis halbschattigen Standort sowie ein leicht saures, nährstoffreiches Substrat, das gleichmäßig feucht gehalten wird.
