This exotic specialty is native to the humid lowland rainforests of Borneo and is revered among plant collectors as one of the most charming and delicate species within the genus Artocarpus. Unlike its giant relatives such as the Marang or Jackfruit, the Bondon produces noticeably small, almost palm-sized fruits with a characteristically short-stalked, softly spiky outer rind. Inside, it reveals tender, snow-white fruit arils that feature a delightfully sweet, refreshing flavor profile – taste-wise, its creamy pulp is reminiscent of a fine tropical mangosteen dessert. In cultivation, the plant impresses with its beautiful, deep green foliage and elegant, relatively compact growth habit, making it ideal for container growing.
