Marolo seeds possess a distinct natural dormancy (morphophysiological dormancy): the embryo inside matures slowly within moist substrate while natural germination inhibitors prevent premature sprouting. Under purely natural conditions, germination can take anywhere from 6 to 12 months. To significantly accelerate the germination process, experienced plant enthusiasts can choose between three proven methods:

1. Mechanical Scarification: Carefully file or nick the pointed end of the seed coat by about 1 to 2 mm to ease water and oxygen uptake.
