The wood of Brosimum rubescens is considered one of the most visually appealing exotic woods.
Color: The heartwood has a vibrant, blood-red to deep carmine color that, unlike other woods, hardly fades over time, but rather darkens.
Hardness: It is extremely hard and dense.
On the Janka hardness scale, it achieves a value of approximately 2,900 lbf (approx. 12,900 N), making it significantly harder than oak.
Durability: It is very resistant to insect infestation, termites, and rot.
Working: Due to its high density and high silicate content, tools dull quickly.
However, it can be polished to a high shine and develops a natural luster.

Das Holz von Brosimum rubescens gilt als eines der optisch ansprechendsten Exotenhölzer. 
Farbe: Das Kernholz weist eine leuchtende, blutrote bis tief karminrote Färbung auf, die im Gegensatz zu anderen Hölzern über die Zeit kaum verblasst, sondern eher nachdunkelt.
Härte: Es ist extrem hart und dicht. 
Auf der Janka-Härteskala erreicht es einen Wert von etwa 2.900 lbf (ca. 12.900 N), was es deutlich härter als Eiche macht.
Haltbarkeit: Es ist sehr widerstandsfähig gegen Insektenbefall, Termiten und Fäulnis.
Verarbeitung: Aufgrund der hohen Dichte und des hohen Silikatgehalts stumpfen Werkzeuge schnell ab. 
Es lässt sich jedoch hervorragend polieren und entwickelt einen natürlichen Glanz.
